Cancer: The Master of Disguise Cancer, the second leading cause of death in the United States. It claims thousands of lives every day. From young to old, cancer does not discriminate by age, sex, race nor religion. By definition, cancer is abnormal multiplication of cells that spreads into surrounding tissues. It can also start anywhere in the human body. Most cancers actually start as tumors, which is a tissue mass that serves no purpose. Some people have no symptoms, and they usually do not find out until it is too late for effective treatment. I will be covering the possible causes, symptoms, different types of cancer, as well as ways of diagnosing, staging, treatments, side effects of treatments, and research foundations. With a little bit of an insight on life during and after diagnosis and recovery. Scientists really do not know everything that actually causes cancer. There can be genetic, environmental, and life-style factors that contribute to this disease. Lung cancers are linked to smoking, asbestos, radon gas, even genetic predisposition (example: where relatives smoking/non-smoking develop lung cancer even though you did not.)
